Energy Performance Monitoring
One of the key functions of the Commission is to monitor the performance of the SA licensed electricity and gas entities, as well as monitoring the performance of the electricity and gas retail markets.
The Commission has issued guidelines on the performance statistics it requires entities to report routinely, and the manner in which entities report compliance with the various Codes issued by the Commission. The key documents for reporting this material are the Annual Performance Reports published in November each year. The Annual Performance Reports address:
-
the performance of electricity and gas retailers serving the small customer (residential and small business) segment of the energy retail market in South Australia. The report includes detailed discussion of the ongoing development of the market, and retailers' performance against the service standards established under the Commission's Energy Retail Code.
-
key aspects of the performance of the regulated electricity distribution business (ETSA Utilities), gas distribution business (Envestra) and electricity transmission business (ElectraNet).
-
the nature of the Commission's regulatory compliance and enforcement regime and the degree of compliance by regulated entities.
The Annual Performance Reports provide a good summary of industry performance from a State perspective.
Detailed time series data is provided in a Statistical Appendix, which covers retail and network performance data, which is designed to assist researchers and other persons with an interest in examining specific results and trends.
